Day cream is the most commonly purchased and used treatment by women and men, even before makeup. How do you choose among all the products on offer, each more innovative than the last?
Choosing your day cream requires a good analysis beforehand. You need to know how to decipher the real needs of your skin, hence the importance of a skin diagnosis.
You can't apply the same day cream to very dry skin and to oily skin with imperfections. On the other hand, all skin types need to be moisturized.
How do I choose the right day cream?
To choose the day cream best suited to your skin type, it is essential to take several criteria into account:
Skin type: normal, combination, mature…
The problem: dry skin, imperfections, wrinkles, fine lines, lack of radiance…
The texture: fluid, rich, light, gel…
Ingredients: gentle and natural components to avoid damaging the skin with concentrated active ingredients for greater effectiveness.
The environment: sea, mountains, exposure to the sun or cold… Hydration needs can vary depending on the environment in which you live.
What is my skin type?
Oily skin: You have thick, resilient skin, a particularly shiny “T-zone,” and a lack of radiance. Your skin is also more prone to blemishes and pimples.
Dry skin: your skin feels tight and has some redness, your makeup doesn't hold and you notice visible areas of flaking (small dead skin on the surface).
Dehydrated skin: you feel tightness at certain times of the day, after cleansing your skin or after showering and it can even be painful. Your skin constantly lacks comfort and has fine lines.
Sensitive skin: your skin is very thin, reactive to external aggressions (stress, heat, cold), it is particularly prone to redness or rosacea.
Dull skin: your skin lacks radiance, your complexion may appear "gray", stress, drug treatments, not enough care. For this type of skin, many criteria come into play.
Mature skin: The signs of aging are appearing, your skin lacks bounce, it is marked by more or less deep wrinkles and the contours of your face tend to be less defined.
My ideal routine
Thorough make-up removal: it frees the skin from accumulated impurities and prepares it to receive the following treatments.
A serum: it is essential under a day or night
facial moisturizer for optimal hydration of all layers of the skin. To save time, there are some rich or light creams that have a 2-in-1 action (cream and serum in a single treatment).
Eye contour care: to adapt to your age and your skin. The eye contour is a very fragile area that requires special care with age.
A night cream: the skin regenerates itself while we sleep, so we need to give it special care before going to bed. Choose a moisturizing or even nourishing night cream, unless your favorite treatment doubles as a day and night cream.
A cream according to the seasons, it’s possible
In summer, no heavy texture. We advise you to choose a fluid, light texture, which will be absorbed more quickly by the skin and will give you a feeling of freshness.
In winter, opt for a richer texture, it will bring more comfort to your skin.
You can also use a thermal water spray to soothe dry skin in summer and winter (both extreme heat and cold periods can be harsh on the skin) or a moisturizing mist to protect the skin throughout the day and give it a boost of freshness when temperatures rise.
Also drink plenty of water in the morning, this will hydrate your body and help it eliminate toxins. In general, drinking plenty of water helps your skin stay fresh and hydrated.
