Adapting my beauty routine in summer
Why change my beauty routine?
Sun and beach are signs of relaxation, but they can also be bad for your skin if you don't prepare for them. Here are some essential steps to consider in your summer beauty routine.
Good reflexes
Prepare: Treat your skin before summer, not during it: cosmetic products generally contain vitamin C, soy, alpha-hydroxy acids, lactic acid, or other active ingredient cocktails. They accelerate cell renewal by exfoliating and block melanin synthesis to lighten the skin while preventing the appearance of new spots. A great way to have skin prepared before any exposure!
Protect: Protecting yourself from the sun is very important. In theory and in practice, we often develop bad habits: we expose ourselves for long periods of time during the hottest hours or we don't reapply sunscreen every two hours. Unfortunately, UV rays can cause skin burns and accelerate the signs of aging. The first thing to do when the sun's rays arrive is to protect your skin from UV rays. Even though they provide vitamin D, you shouldn't go out without protection. (For more information, see our latest article "UVA/UVB: How to choose the right sunscreen?"). Every morning, apply a protective treatment over your day cream. Revitalizing and regenerating masks are highly recommended, especially at the end of summer. They will help the skin retain its moisture and maintain its tan.
Cleanse: It's important to cleanse your skin daily; with or without makeup, it needs it. Choose light makeup that won't suffocate it. Foundation is no longer your priority for the summer; opt for a tinted emulsion over a good day cream. In the morning, use a very gentle product to avoid damaging your skin, which has regenerated overnight. The goal is to only remove the excess sebum that may have accumulated. In the evening, remove your makeup even more thoroughly. Choose a suitable makeup remover that will rid your skin of sunscreen, makeup, or sebum accumulated during the day.
The ideal routine
Moisturize your skin by choosing a cream with a fluid texture with a hydrating serum or a mattifying day cream that absorbs excess sebum when temperatures rise. A hydrating mist is an essential step! City Mist is a hydrating mist that acts as a protective shield against climatic variations (sun, wind, cold) and external aggressions such as pollution and blue light.
Every morning, apply a protective treatment over your day cream; a cream with a UV index or a sunscreen, for example. Creams with a UV index often lose their active ingredient concentration to make way for the protective agents. If you opt for maximum hydration effectiveness, we recommend applying a day cream with an SPF50 sunscreen. To help the skin regenerate after a long day in the sun, exfoliation is ideal. Exfoliating the skin helps remove dead cells to make it smoother and softer. We recommend doing a gentle exfoliation once or twice a week depending on your skin type (sensitive or not).
