Lotion tonique, eau de soin, essence de beauté… Pourquoi notre peau les aime tant ?

Toning lotion, treatment water, beauty essence… Why does our skin love them so much?

There are many products available today in liquid form; they are called "liquid care" or "cosmetic water." These liquid treatments are a cosmetic trend that came from Asia several years ago. More specifically, from Japan, where water plays a very important role in beauty rituals. This skincare is part of the ancestral rituals of Japanese women, who made their own treatment water based on rice powder, rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. Concentrated in water and with an ultra-light texture, these treatment waters are real shots of hydration for the skin. But they are also treatment and target certain skin problems such as pigmentation spots, and can be anti-aging, anti-pollution, or even anti-blemish.

Its liquid treatments are a mine of benefits for our skin:

Moisturizing, smoothing wrinkles and fine lines, they have a lightening or exfoliating action, reduce pigment spots, and above all, they give a lot of radiance to the complexion.

Skincare water is an essential step in your beauty routine

It significantly increases the performance of skincare products. Skin saturated with water is like a sponge; soft, plump, and capable of deeply absorbing skincare products concentrated in active ingredients (especially essences and serums). Skincare water is an ally for all skin types because it reduces fine lines caused by dryness, in the same way that it rebalances combination skin, which overproduces sebum to protect itself from dehydration. It also helps restore the pH of the epidermis after cleansing. If you cleanse your face with a soap or cleanser with a high pH, the skin can feel tight. A lotion prevents this sensation and maintains the skin's pH at a good level. The lotion is used on a cleansed face, after a foaming rinse-off gel, after micellar water (which leaves residue), after a cleansing milk or a cleansing or cleansing oil. Soak a cotton pad or cloth, or directly in the palm of your hand, and apply gently to the entire face and neck.

And the essence of beauty?

An essence is a hybrid product, somewhere between a toner and a serum. An essence is generally much more concentrated in active ingredients than a toner. With an essence, you're already in the skincare stage; you're no longer in the cleansing stage like with a toner. There are hydrating essences , treatment essences, anti-aging essences, restorative essences, and more. Essences have their own unique application techniques. Using a cotton pad is not necessary, and is even inadvisable. The goal here is really to allow the treatment to penetrate as much as possible, and not leave it on the surface. Take a few drops in the palm of your hand and apply them with light pressure and patting movements onto the skin. Apply the essence to cleansed skin before using your serum, morning and/or evening. If you use a toner, the essence is generally applied after this step.
